My time as a GP registrar at Boddington Medical Centre in Boddington has been an incredibly rewarding and formative experience. From the very first day, I was welcomed into a supportive, friendly, and well-organized team who were genuinely invested in my learning and development.

Each week begins with a scenic drive into Boddington, through a picturesque forest and into the rolling hills that surround the town — a peaceful and grounding start to the working week. The setting itself reflects the community: beautiful, resilient, and full of character.

I have had the privilege of serving a wonderfully diverse population — farmers, miners, families, and elderly residents — offering true cradle-to-grave care. This variety allowed me to develop a broad skill set and grow confident in managing a wide range of presentations in both acute and chronic care. The continuity of care in this rural setting has deepened my understanding of holistic and patient-centered general practice.

A particular highlight of my placement is working under the guidance of my supervisor, who has brought a great wealth of wisdom to every teaching moment. Her mentorship is thoughtful, insightful, and encouraging, helping me develop confidence in both my clinical abilities and professional judgement.

I must also acknowledge the brilliant and reliable administrative team, whose efforts facilitate the smooth running of daily operations. Their efficiency, professionalism, and approachability has made a significant difference to my experience, allowing me to focus on patient care and learning without unnecessary stress.

Working with the local hospital staff has also been an immense pleasure. Their collaboration and willingness to support registrars creates a seamless interface between primary and secondary care, which further enhances the quality of patient care and my overall learning experience.

The wider practice team, including nurses and allied health professionals, have fostered a collegial and collaborative environment. I have always felt like a valued member of the team.

I will complete this placement feeling well-prepared for independent practice, and I am deeply grateful for the professional and personal growth I have experienced here.

Boddington and its people will always hold a special place in my journey as a GP.
